thanks NIK, but I've tried about everything..stripped out my autoexec and config, the memory is the same kind and speed!! Do you know of a good util to run to check it out?

Greg, Is the motherboard on your computer a Micronics? I remember something in InfoWorld a couple of weeks ago about adding more than 16 meg RAM and having the machine run slower! Something about turning BIOS shadowing off to recognize the extra RAM. Nick V

Greg, please let us know if it works out or not I have a Gateway DX266 with 16 meg RAM and am thinking of upgrading to 32 meg. It has a Micronics motherboard. Nick

Nick, For what it's worth, I'm using a Gateway EISA with the DX2, Award BIOS. Went from 16M to 40M with no problems. JKJ
