Mitsumi DMA NFG

Well, I'm happy to hear that you've managed to solve your MTMCDE problem… but
as far as the MTMCDS goes, I'm somewhat at a loss.
Have you tried loading the CDS low to see what happens? If it lets you through
to Windows, then it's probably related to CDE's problem… if it still locks
up, try using a HIMEM/EMM386 combination. I don't know if it's a IRQ/DMA
problem, since when using the SW-polling driver that shouldn't be a
consideration. Also, by the way, if it's an address conflict your machine will
never even get to a DOS prompt, and will usually lock up before or shortly
after the RAM test…so I doubt it's that.
Erg… the last part somewhat confused me. IRQ 2 really shouldn't be free if
you have any other cards in your machine set to a "16-bit IRQ" (9-15 (16?)).
I must admit, though, that I'm usually at a loss with the problems that spring
up with QEMM loaded… especially when they're related to Windows. Since QEMM
doesn't actually free up any memory, just shuffles it around, but also because
it's disabled when Windows is running, I've always been somewhat leery of it
running with Windows… a number of machines on-site aren't compatible with
Stealth, which I have to admit has biased me a little against it.
