#Benchmarking CD drives

Does anyone have any suggestions for benchmarking CD-ROM drives?
I review drives for magazine articles. I would like to give the readers some
idea of the comparitive performance of the drives – how long it takes to read a
certain file, for example. But I want to be sure that what I tell them is
objective and reflects "read world" use of the drives.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Check out the WIZARD.MPC file in Lib #10. And this company will be coming out
with an update that have even more sophisticated tools, but the release date is
not determined as yet.

Thanks for the tip, Rich. I'll have a look at it right away.
Unless your readers are very sophisticated, they may be better off with "time
to perform" tests. To test access times, perform some very complicated
searches on the same database on each drive. For transfer rate, copy big files.
I think this has more meaning to average users, as opposed to geeks like us.
