#Macmillan Dictionary

I just got the January '93 issue of Nautilus through their
introductory offer. Eveything on it runs fine, except for the
"corrected" version of the Macmillan's Dictionary for Children. It
plays the opening speech, says something about the letter A, then I
get a dialogue box. The title of the box is "Waveform Error" and the
text is "The specified device is not open or is not recognized by
MCI" and the only choice is OK. If I press OK, the Demo seems to
stop and all I can do is press the Exit button.
What device is causing the problem? I have a ProAudio Spectrum 16 sound card,
with the latest windows drivers (1.45).

You're not having a real problem. The "fixed" version of the demo is still
buggy!

Jack is correct. However, as the saying goes "Third times a charm". You can
find a completely workable copy of the Macmillan Dictionary demo on the Feb.

Well I guess it's time to subscribe to Nautilus! Actually I've enjoyed the
January Issue very much. Can my subscription start with the February issue?

Hi Paul. I'm glad to hear you are ready to subscribe. I'm sure you'll find it
worth it. However, I will have to check with Customer Service on the policies
of backstarting a subscription. I will let you know.

Kate is right: the February issue has a completely corrected MacMillan
dictionary, and it is very, very nice. I got waveform errors in the first
two attempts, just like you. But apparently even the original version ran
okay on some people's equipment.
