I am interested in purchasing a CD-ROM for my system. I currently have a PS/2
Model 57 SLC 486 with a SCSI and 2-160 MB 14 MS drives. I am would like to
purchase a CD Rom and have found that most CD ROM drives that you purchase
through the computer stores also come with controller cards (I really don't
need one). I had a blurb that showed Toshiba CD-Rom drives are also
compatible. Does anyone know of other drives that are compatible with the IBM
SCSI? Thanks

I have tried both TEXEL 3024 and TOSHIBA 3401 on 486 SLC with no problem at
all. I connect the CD-ROM drive to the SCSI cable inside and run automactic
config., then it works under OS/2 both audio and data but haven't try DOS yet.

Under DOS, you can use the Trantor CD-295 driver for the internal IBM SCSI
adapter. It supports most CD-ROM drives and handles Kodak Photo CD support,
too.
