AMAX and CPT files

I've been trying to download a MAC .CPT (a self-extracting compressed)
file through the Amiga and use the Amax FileTransfer II software to get it
onto the Mac side. Unfortunately, after transferring the file as
Macbinary and double-clicking on the icon created, I get a system error
bomb.
I just got the new 2.5 software (I'm using the cartridge) and this hasn't
worked any better. Has anyone else gotten the filetransfer software to
work with CPT files? Any help would be greatly appreciated, once again.

Although this may seem obvious, but did you set the transfer file type
to Macbinary? Also, I bellieve that .CPT files may not be self-extracting.
Seems I have one and needed to use Stuffit to undo it. May be wrong about
this, but check it out just to be sure.
.CPT files are compressed using Compactor. I'm not sure but I think the
more recent versions of StuffIT (Deluxe) will work on it. If not you'll
need to go to the MAC areas, use G MACFF and use the filefinder. Keyword
would be COMPACTOR.

The latest Stuffit shareware will undo a .CPT file. I just did one
last night with it.
