Doug – We have tried to duplict the problems you are seeing. No luck. Herc also can't duplicate it. If you have the time, please show it to Greg. Jack Bayt – Vibrant.

Jack, I finally got the problems resolved (thanks to Greg). What is confusing is that the Herc comes with NO doc (that I could find) for your drivers so I ended up having Greg 'splain it to me. What isn't obvious is that you actually install several PCPADI drivers simultaneously! I can still get it to trash, but only if I fiddle too much. I didn't read the install screens so when it let me install a driver specifically for the materials editor, I was confused. As I said, all is well now. My last problem is that you don't look at the CRT file that Herc creates so you set a really lo refresh rate and 8×6 flickers unusably. I am OK in 1024 though. Thanks again. BTW, where have you been for the last coupla weeks?? Those messages were old!

Doug – I was stuck on a couple of trips and to top it off, the modem fried. We hade a bad storm here, everything is protected EXCEPT the phone lines, lost 2 modems and another is acting very funny now. So, a made scramble for modems ended with "oh well, Jacks going to be gone a few weeks…<g>. So I decide, hey lets look at the new $200 v.32/bis modems based on the Rockwell chips. Order a couple, find out yesterday they haven't arrived, called, "oh, they are now backlogged…". Wait – It gets better. So on my trip, run to the local store, grab a modem. Try to hook it up in the hotel, NOT. Can't get it to work via the hotel system. Ran back to Radio Shack, tried to hook up a vampire, but still the stupid clone modem would hang up the line when ever I tried to connect. So – had a wonderful 2 weeks of actually getting work done instead of spending a couple of hours a day… I was at Herc last week. Tried to duplicate the problem with the 800×600. 800×600 look'ed rock solid to us. We are using the VBE and bios utility for monitor timming. I'm still baffled…. Jack Bayt – Vibrant

Well, it depends on what monitor! If I compare 8×6 in WIndows with 8×6 in 3DS, 3DS flickers.

What a nightmare story! At least we don't get thunderstorms in SF… Glad you made it back in one piece, Jack. – G
