Does anyone know a way to produce 3DS images compatible with LCD shutter
glasses viewing? (Or do I have to shell out $2500 for the CDK?)

Sure, Create two cameras. I like to link them to a dummy object so they can be
moved together. Adjust the distance between cameras to control the apparent
scale of the scene. Usually you'll want to keep the camera to target lines
parallel, but you can also have them converge at some point in the scene.
Experiment… Render the images and interlace them. You can use a program like
TIPS or Animator Pro to create a mask consisting of alternatting horizontal
lines (one of the video fields), load one of the images, turn on the mask and
draw a filled rectangle over the entire image using the key color (leaving the
lines that were protected with the mask). Save the image as a .WIN or .CEL.
Load the other image and paste the saved .WIN or .CEL over it. If the depth is
reversed in the resulting image, just move the whole thing up one line. You can
also create 3D animation using similar techniques. Please post any interesting
interlaced 3D images you create…
BTW, what's a CDK?
Thanks for the tip! I don't have an interface for the 3D glasses yet, but
when I do I'll give that a try immediately!

Hi Jason. I recently was looking into the Crystal Eyes product for stereo
imaging on the PC and found it fascinating. I'd like to know a bit more of what
you're doing. Also, since you didn't purchase the entire $3000 package, what
LCD glasses are you using? How are they connected, or how does it work?

You should check out the GRAPHDEV forum here on cis, I think there's a program
called 3DPLAY (and others) there that might do the trick. Anyways, somebody in
the VR lib there might help you more.
