I'd recommend the IBM 700C… it comes with a 486SL chip, can be upgraded with
a math copro. and if you can wait another couple of weeks, IBM will be shipping
a 50Mhz version of it. Best of all, it comes with a 256 color VESA driver and
the screen is VERY nice.

Yeah, the IBM 700C _is_ nice (we just got one actually). It's got a
great screen for sure but as far as the math co. goes, after talking with the
tech guys, it seems it can only take the 387 math chip. Since the 486DX
(Toshiba) has one built in, it seems to me, there would be a performance
difference.

Perhaps, but I ran Norton's SI on my 700c (25Mhz) and my 486DX 25Mhz and they
were pretty damn close. If I upgraded my 700c to 50Mhz, I'd be willing to bet
that it'd blow the doors off my 486DX-25. The 700c has a much better screen
than the Toshiba, runs on a battery for up to 4 hours, and has a built-in
mouse-stick which I find helpful in tight or presentation situations.
Hey, I understand the 700c is built for IBM by Toshiba anyways (at least the
screen is). I'd check out the 700c before I'd rule it out…
