John: But, on the other hand, if they made drugs legal, and taxed them, the free market would drive the price of drugs to 1/10th of their current price, and a street junkie who currently has a $300/day habit and is basically forced to rob and steal to get that much per day (or sell drugs) would suddenly have a $30.00/day habit, one that could easily be fed by a days work at a labor pool, the addict (or junkie, pick your term) can suddenly do what he/she wants in a legal fashion, the gettos could then become safer places as the streetside drug dealers would all be closed down, and all manner of drugs could be sold at your local liquor store.
