#Pro-Page 4 Upgrade.

I have already sent this message once, but have received no reply
yet, so I shall repeat it. I have been experiencing a similar problem to
Leonard Abbey, Msg 92401, in that Pro-Page 4 seems to have problems with
Chip memory. My system is A500, 1M Chip 2M Fast, A590 – 100Mb HD and a
CSA-MMR 030 board. The problem is that with an indicated 950k of chip free
and a largest block size of 450k the program fails to load with an
insufficient chip ram message. The program does load if it is the first
thing run or if I merge the chip ram blocks first.
Also, the Pro-Spool program appears only to work for PostScript output, I
have found no way to reset the Dot-Matrix output of Pro-Page to use this
program. Is this correct, or am I missing something.
Lastly, I have just returned home from work, to find a 2nd PPage 4 upgrade
has arrived, I now have two sets of disks and two manuals.
Hope you (or anyone else) can help with the above.

I haven't tried printing through ProPage to Pro-Spool, so I don't know
whether it'll indeed only print PS files. But Pro-Spool DOES handle non-PS
printer output from other programs on my system.

Re the problem with CHIP RAM and the PPage 4.0 installation.
I appear to have solved this problem (with a little help from Gold
Disk, Philip). In my case it was related to the installation of the
ASL.library, the copy I had in LIBS: was delete protected and hence did
not get updated. Once I rectified this and replace the lib rary with the
one Gold Disk supplied, and rebooted my machine all appears to be ok. I
will be doing my big test run this weekend to put PPage 4.0 through its
paces and see how it handles my 3.0 files etc.. But so far it looks ok.

saw Philips post to you, so checked my own ASL.library, it was
updated by the install routine, so that is not the problem. I think that
it probably fixed your problem because you have 2M of Chip, I only have 1M
so it is always struggling to find a large enough block of Chip to
startup. Will have to see if Philip can come up with anything else.

ProSpool is for PostScript printing only.
Is you memeory all 32-bit or is it mixed?
