I get around this when zoomed way in by setting up my zooms in the non-full
screen mode, then switch to full screen to work. To switch from TOP to FRONT,
I never press "F", but switch back to the multi-view screen, hit the ESC key
several times if necessary to stop the screen redraws, select the FRONT
viewport, then click on the full screen icon again. Sounds like a lot of
effort, but it is very fast and allows exact control of your zoomed view.
Note that when zoomed into an area in an X-Y view, the software cannot possibly
know exactly where along the Z axis you want to zoom in an orthoganal view.
