Hi..
We are new to this forum, so excuse us if we end up sending this message to the
entire universe.
We are looking for some help on the various approaches to digitized video;
specifically compressed video that does not require a board (like DVI) for
playback– more specifically, QuickTime and Video for Windows.
Now to the question(s): Where can we find out what the various codecs are and
their relative virtures and limitations? For example how does the Indeo codec
compare with MPEG in terms of compression ratio, image quality, playback rate,
frame size? Also there are many codecs. Which ones work with QT and VfW?
Which ones offer the best portabilty across platforms… etc… etc.
We will greatly appreciate any information or other resources you can offer.
Wendy,
I wonder if you can get some of your questions answered in the WINEXT forum
(Microsoft Windows Extensions). They should have some VfW people there —
maybe they would also have some info in library files. Just a thought…
