The storm is literally the Storm of the Century, but we missed the 110mph winds back here in the hills and just got the snow and ice. Last death toll along the east I heard is 112, and at least that many are still missing. It's a bad one. Considering the loss of life (and the sucker was so big that when it began snowing at the Canadian border its center was still south of Atlanta and it had a barometric pressure reading lower than any hurricane ever measured) it certainly was the equal of the previous worst storm in history for the region, even though that storm killed more–it was, after all, in 1888 and was a surprise. The same storm that was whacking tar out of us creamed half the agriculture in Cuba and even caused wreckage and flooding in Jamaica! Never saw one like this and hope I don't again. But I'd much rather deal with the 26" of snow that fell here (half in just a couple of hours, complete with thunder and lightning) than the horrors they had in Florida. Pressure was so low it sucked air from your area all the way to Key West; they say it was 31 degrees in Miami last night! Bum luck dept: the huge people waiting at the airport here for an Air Jamaica flight that couldn't show up….
