CDD 521 Help!

I have a CDD 521 recordable CD drive connected to a Adaptec AHA 1542C host
interface card. After setting up all the device drivers as instructed I am
able to access the CD drive – but only at a fraction (about a tenth) of the
specified transfer rate.
Is there anybody out there who might be able to help get me sorted?

Review your jumper settings on the Adaptec card. It is possible to modify the
DTR with the hardware. Sorry, I'm not at work so I can't look it up, but
review the manuals & you should be able to find out what to do.
If you still have problems, give a holler. We have one of those.

Firstly thanks for replying to my plea for help about the CDD 521 DTR issue. I
had only just got the system and was trying to read files from a CD and found
that the transfer rate was about 80KB/S! Since then I have been able to record
the 380 MB of data on to a CD in under 30 minutes so I am satisfied that the
write DTR is very much as specified (about 300 KB/S).However the read DTR is
only still only about 80KB/S. I have tried adjusting the syncronous transfer
rate as you were suggesting, at settings above 5.7MB/S my system hangs. I have
also tried adjusting the bus off and bus on times with no success.
I am beginning to think that the problem lies with the CDD 521 driver supplied
by the CD authoring software I purchased with the system, namely WinOnCD –
(Have you heard of WinOnCD ?)
As I got the system mainly to record CDs and I am able to do that without any
problem there is no urgency in solving the read DTR problem but it does niggle
me. So if you have any other ideas I would love to hear them.
