Hi Ho: I am getting a little curious. Has any one recived their 2.0 version of Imagine yet? From what I understand it has been shipping almost two weeks. I know that the holidays sloooow down the UPS, but I am still a little suprised I have not seen one message here. I am hopping that everyone has recived it and is just to busy to log on. Thanx, Brad Hayes

Brad, well, I haven't received my copy yet, and haven't seen any postings for anyone else receiving theirs, so I'm starting to wonder if 2.0 is actualy shipping. Last minute delays are not uncommon, especialy with impulse. Shame really, all this extra time over the holidays and no new toys to play with. -david

A local bro of mine got his the other Day but he works for a Amiga Dealer so that may have speeded things up for him

Brad, I received 2.0 yesterday. I,m impressed with the manual. I enjoyed reading their prologue (I,m getting more philosophical as I get older). You get 4 disks: FP, INT, Objects, and Demo. I haven't had a chance to get into the program yet. In reading the first 30 pages or so, I found that the manual is laid out as a complete tutorial, so I,m going to go through it all as a refresher. Hope you get your's soon. – via Whap!

Is there also a reference section in the manual for those of us that like to refer to manuals as opposed to reading manuals?

Yes. There is a complete index in the back. Also, there are 4 apendixes: Textures, Brush Wrapping, Special Effects, and Hardware. There is also a brief table of contenes that can get you pointed in a general direction. I,ve already made it through half of the manual. It's essentially a 240 page, in depth, tutorial. I actually performed the tutorials in those area that are new and read the rest. I also did the tutorial for the Forms Editor which cleared up much of the confusion I had about the slices. I doubt that anyone will cry "Poor Documentation" anymore. Impulse did a fantastic job. – via Whap!

I've gotten a new burst of excitement and adrenalin. My head is bursting with ideas. I think there will be plenty to discuss. – via Whap!

Might I ask when you ordered yours? I ordered my upgrade on the 16th and still haven't seen hide nor hare of it yet. Sounds like a good package, guess I will have to give Impulse a call…..

I ordered it somewhere between the first and second week of Dec. as what they called a preorder. Impulse mentioned they already had something like a 1000 orders. – via Whap!

I just got mine on the 2nd, looks real nice so far!

I received mine on Jan 3rd. It looks great…haven't had time to really explore. The manual is quite nice although its mostly tutorial (learn by example). I think it would be fantastic if a reference section was included, but it really is good. All around the program seems alot "tighter" and down the line I'm sure we will see some great 2.0 images and anims comming. Congrats Impulse….For sure worth the upgrade price!!!

I ordered mine on 20 Dec. and just got it today (2 Jan). I'm very, very disappointed…I just spent 2 weeks of spare time writing an object exploder program for Turbo Silver and they went and put the same thing in their F/X library! Sigh…chalk it up as a "learning experience".

It would be interesting to get more details as to how you wrote your exploder (what language) and what it did compared to what the Imagine version does.
#33103From: David Schmitt [Baler]Jan 7, 1992 8:25 AM
I wrote the exploder in C for Turbo Silver. I haven't fiddled with 2.0's Exploder F/X yet, but after reading the manual I conclude that their F/X is about the same as mine. I wrote in gravity support (specifed via an axis named "GRAVITY" in the cell files) and allow children objects to be "blown away" from the parent (translated along a vector defined by the parent's axis and the child's axis) and also "exploded" at the same time. This would allow me to, say, explode a car object and have whole parts fly away from parent (i.e. wheels fly away from the car body). The one good thing I've gotten out of this is a TDDD file I/O module. I can read object files, mangle them in any way I please, and write them back out. Now if only I had another use for that…

Brad– My pal Steve called Impulse a couple of days ago, and they told him that his copy was already out the door. Jonathan – via Whap!

I asked the guy who answers the phone the same thing. He laughed for about 30 seconds then said, "Yea right like I would know?". He seem to have a bit of an attitude when I've called in the past. But I guess if all I got were calls from greedy computer dwebs (myself at the top of the list) I might sound that way t Brad HaYES
