I recently upgraded my accelerator card from a Diamond Stealth VRAM, to an ATI Graphics +. The ATI is wonderful as far as resolution and color, but. . .it won't let my use my RDPADI for rendering to screen for Targa. The stealth had no problem with this. I'm using r3. Any suggestions?

Kelly, Well, I hate the ATI cards; they're so often a problem. The RDPADI for the Targa (or +) should work, unless there's a memory conflict with the ATI. The Targa should be at address D000-DFFF, with that memory range excluded from DOS and Windows use. If your Targa is at A000, you were just lucky before. The ATI may also have BIOS extensions using something up in the C800-CFFF range, which might be tromping over some other driver memory allocation. Kevin Krell – Computer Support Associates

I've heard great things about ATI cards, and everybody recommended it to us. We've got 3 computers with these cards! 2 of which are 486's, one a 33 and the other a 66. The 66 won't render RDPADI either. From what I can tell the memory addresses aren't tromping on each other. I'll have to check my computers at work, to make sure. The installation of the ATI card is REALLY treacherous!!! I'm just a computer artist trying to make heads or tails of something that was obviously meant for a techie! Sheesh!!! Thanks, and I'll let you know tomorrow what I find out.

Kevin, >> well, I hate the ATI cards; they're so often a problem.<< I've had the same opinion for some time. I completely gave up on the cards about a year ago. Recently though … I gave them a second look due to some prompting from my customers .. and they have been A LOT less problem than they were. For 3DS, I like the Hercules Dynamite VL (T4000/W32) … blazing DOS speed .. good windows performance. The only problem is that the 2MB version doesn't support 800x600x16M. Ang
