#New CD32
4 messages in this thread
Hey All,
Just ordered me a CD32 and was wondering if anyone had any comments
on it? I only saw one up close and that was at my local dealer, played
with it for about 5 minutes, boy that Pinball Fantasies was good.
However, he didn't the time to run the demo. Is this machine going tobe
slower than my A1200? Will I be able to add Fast RAM to it? If so is
there a way I can turn it into an A1200 so I can sell my A1200 and use the
CD32 for everything? Thanks a bunch.
Peter
Peter,
There is a new expansion board coming out for the CD32 to expand it to give it
a parallel port, serial, hard-drive connecter, floppy disk, memory expansion,
keyboard – in fact every thing to turn it into an 1200.
The expansion is called the SXI CD32 and is made by Microbotics. It costs 150
over here.
The CD32 should be going at exactly the same speed as your 1200.
The machine is a very good one by all accounts, there is a letter in Amiga Arts
in the CD32/Games section entitled AUI CD32 coverdisk. In it I put the games
that should be worth a look at.

That CD32 expansion module is sure making the rounds in the magazines
all over Europe. The only problem is that Microbotics is the process
of being acquired by another company. They have stated that they have
the plans all ready for the CD32 expansion, but haven't even got to
the prototype stage yet. And whether or not it becomes a real product
is still questionable. I suggest you go ask Microbotic's about it
yourself in the AmigaVendor (GO AMIGAVEN) forum.
