#2400 BAUD
6 messages in this thread
I have been trying to access CIS at 2400 baud for some time now, and have been
unable to do so. CIS insists that the two NY (area 212) numbers I am trying are
working correctly, but when I call them I am unable to get the User ID: prompt.
I am using Online! with a Racal-Vadic 2400PA modem. I have no trouble getting
on elsewhere at 2400 baud. Any ideas? Thanks for the help. <JEFF>
Jeff – are you absolutely sure those CIS #'s are 2400 baud?
Jeff;
I am currently on CIS at 2400 through 212-509-8130. There
is also 212-968-7790. At 2400 baud you have to wait longer to press
the CRTL-C sequence. Try again after connecting wait about 20 seconds
then press CRTL-C. If that doesn't work check your software or the
modem.
Good Luck,

I will try waiting a little longer…..thanks!
Jeff,
A couple of things….you aren't trying to use Vadic protocol are you?
Ken's suggestion about waiting for the 20 seconds is also a possibility, check
the #'s in the CIS list (GO PHONES) and see if they have an M beside
them….that means they support MNP error correction protocol and do a modem
inquiry to see if your modem supports it, they will switch to normal 2400 baud
response if your modem doesn't reply as a MNP supporting modem.
Finaly, OnLine! doesn't work very well at 2400 baud due to it's screen
I/O. This will be fixed in the next release of OnLine! but it can cause
problems…you are limited to about 1100bps screen output..perhaps even a bit
slower.
Don
Am not using Vadic protocol, but possibly I just need to wait a little longer
once I get online. You're right about Online! at 2400–doesn't work very well
at all!
