I've got to produce a small animation for a horror movie where a
human hand dissolves down to the skeleton. To avoid starting on the
wrong track, any tips, advice and comments will be greately
appreciated.
generally the way to do this would be to render the scene twice. Once
with the skin hand, once with the skeletal hand. Then you simply
dissolve between them. That could be done in post-production or in
3ds's video post. If you need specifics on video post, I'll be glad
to make more suggestions.
Adding to Martin's suggestion, I'd morph the hand to melt, and morph its
materials from normal flesh to decayed, and finally dissolve to the skeletal
hand.
