#Animator Books
12 messages in this thread
Jonas,
A number of times in the past people have popped onto the forum
looking for a book on Animator or Animator Pro, and they've been told
that no books exist. Every now and then someone mentions the fact
that there was a book called The Best of Autodesk Animator which is
no longer in print. Well today I stopped by the local Graphics/Design
book store and found 5 copies of the book. I managed to get the
manager to sell them to me for $1.50 a copy. So I'm going to put them
into a closet here, and if anyone pops up again and wants to know
where to find one, let me know and I'll gladly send them one for
$1.50 plus shipping.
The book itself originally listed for $29.95 US/$38.95 CAN and has 498
pages of tutorials, reference and tips. It also has a multiple page
color spread in the center. I sorta figured that although it was
based on the original Animator, that all of the principals are the
same, and it might prove useful to some people starting in the field.
Anyway they're now in a closet, if someone contacts you looking for
one, yell and I'll be glad to send one their way.
Paul,

Thanks. 🙂 I don't think they'll stay there long. Nik Grant
would like to reserve([purchase) one for the department.

Jonas,
Actually I've already had a few sales this morning. Consider a copy for your
department on it's way. These may not make it to the end of the day.
Paul
Great! Thanks a million Paul.

If you've got a copy of the book left I'd love one. Just send me an
address where I can send the check.
I'll like to buy one! There are not many books on Animator and this
can help me improve my animantion skills. Let me know how to get the
payment to you. THANKS!
It sounds to me from the response to your post about books that they
are all already gone – but if not I'd love a copy. If any are
available please let me know and I'll send you a check.
Carlton,
What do you do at VCU? You're only a couple of hours from me. Are you a student
or a professor?
Paul
Paul –
I teach sculpture in the VCU School of the Arts Sculpture Department. I've
been messing with 3D programs for a couple of years now – 3DS for about 4
months. In our department we have a little lab for the Graduate students with
2 486-33's, a 486-66 Eisa with a Targa +64 board, and a Quadra 950 with a Super
Mac Digital Film card. My fascination is primarily with 3DS and 3D computer
display. To date we've mainly acquainted ourselves with the program although
were starding to use it as a sketching medium for visualization sculpture. Its
learning curve is steep, but its modeling and animation features are amazing.
We are about to start out putting our flics onto Hi-8 video.
How about yourself?
Carlton
Looks like there's a niche here – $1.50 probably doesn't hurt either!
