Yesterday i downloaded a very mystic image: 768*1024 truecolor and showing 9 Coke-bottles. Obivously raytraced and with superb quality! Only a little description, somewhat about "created with 3D Studio and using an external raytracing modul – not 'Mirage Raytracing Engine'. Time used to trace the image about 6 hrs.". Any clues about this? Soeren Gerlach

Hi Soeren! You`re one of the lucky guys who have seen a <can`t mention the name> image. This image strictly confidential. The bottles are one of three images that the CAA will show on CeBIT in the next week. The information exchange between the developer and the CAA goes sometimes through a private mailbox. They were a little software problem in the box and the confidential section became public. This took only a few minutes. I think you were in the box in this few minutes… I`ll write some information in the forum as soon as I can. And I`ll upload a few images. Just wait a few days… Thank you. Michael BTW: Do you really believe that raytracing could be so fast? We`re talking about a 1024×768 image with millions of reflections and refractions. 😉

Soeren, I don't know about this perticular image but there is a small crowd that creates in 3DS and then runs it thru 3DS2POV which allows them to raytrace the scene in POV. I have not seen or done this but I've been told to check it out, no time though. Ralph
