Are you arguing against niche markets? Or people finding a calling and
pursuing it, and making a successful living, in spite of a smaller
market for their particular product or service?
By that argument, you could say all computer books are pointless. If
these authors focused on romances, horror fiction, and biographies,
the market share would grow tremendously!
Or do you feel that someone was denying that the PC market (for books
and most everything else) is larger?

No, people are welcome to publish in any market they want. I just
think those kinds of programs face more problems in making a profit
and that it will put more strain on the company. But I like diversity
and I am glad there are company's like say Peachpit which do books
that are so different.
