#AmigaFax.Demo HELP!
5 messages in this thread
Is anyone using the AmigaFax application? I have been trying for almost a week
to get the Demo version to the point where it will actually SEND a fax but it
hangs up at the last step. I am using: Amiga 500 with 1MB ram, two disk drives,
no hard disk, a new SupraFax 144LC modem. I have gotten things to where I have
enough right that I can run the demo to edit and view faxes but when I try to
send it either gives up after about 10 seconds without the modem "batting an
eyelash" and a …(225)… error. If I try to send the fax from CLI I get the
"….unable to open OwnDevUnit.library" message. I have checked the afax: disk
and that library is in the libs directory. At this point I have run out of
things to try. I tried to send a HELP! to the author but I didn't seem to have
the correct CIS ID#. Does anyone have any suggestions? Carl

Carl,
To send a message to Dave Varley at C-Born, use his internet address… he
is quite responsive.
As far as AFax goes, I've never had much success with it. Why don't you
get GPFax for the Supra?
If your Supra is Class 2, you might try ECFAX.LHA (in the library here)…
someone just posted a message saying that it works. ECFax, however, does
require 2.04 or higher.
The LC model of the SupraFax is class 1 only and the AmigaFax application
requires class 2 TR29 modems. Your best bet is to buy the class 1 version
of GPFax.

AmigaFax is for Class 2 Faxmodems. The SupraFax 144LC is Class 1 ONLY,
and not upgradeable. That is why it doesn't work.
I have the same modem, and didn't know until after I received it that all
it did was Class 1 fax. Am waiting for a copy of GPFax for class 1
faxmodems to arrive.

To Carl,
I use GPFAX to send and receive – works great and is very intuitive.
Supra used to bundle it in Amiga pacages of their SpraFaxModem V32bis.
Suggest you call them. It was authored in Australia.
