I've got a monster project and need some fast input if possible. I
have a 27 megabyte mesh model in IGES format that I need to shade. I
would like to be able to reduce its face count as much as possible
before I shade it. I have 3DS AutoCAD and AutoVision to help in the
project. I have not done a IGES translation so any advice on this
which will also help reduce the face count would be much appreciated.
Any and all insight gratefully accepted. This is kind of a rush and I
may need to buy a P5 to complete so, that being the case I need to
move on it now. Thanks in advance,
Does the iges file contain actual mesh info or does it contain
surface info? Where did the file come from.? What Iges translator do
you have? You need the IGES 5.1 or 5.2 translator. Tell me which one
you have and I'll try to walk you through the steps of translating
it.
I'm just heading out to NAB, but thanks for getting back to me
so quickly. I'll contact you when I get back on Wednesday and have
all the pertinent answers. This much I know its all mesh data, no
surface info, and the mesh was produced with a Unigraphics system.
