I have an a1200 with 030 in it and its great. But when it comes to word processing some things are missing. Greater non-interlaced resolution would be welcomed. Are there video drivers available for Amiga AGA to display lets say 800×600 in non interlaced resolution. I tryed Moned3a to increase refresh rates and horizontal frequency, but to no avail. So, are there anyonther drivers besides those that came with WB3.0? (I know AGA can go beyond DBLntsc and Multiscan, so why doesn't it have drivers for it?)

EK >>Greater non-interlaced resolution would be welcomed. Are there video drivers available for Amiga AGA to display lets say 800×600 in non interlaced resolution.<< Nope. While the AGA chips can due 140ns, 70ns, & 35ns pixels at speeds of ~15, ~24, & ~31 kHz, and can refresh from ~50 to ~110 Hz — it doesn't have the 17.5ns pixel speed needed for a 1024 VGA mode. — Limiting the screenmode's maximum height or width, allows you to increase the refresh rate but reduces resolution. There are also other graphic timing constraints, such as the sprites. The DblNTSC & DblPAL drivers reduce the refresh to ~27kHz, increasing width. If you use the VGA-Only flag, the monitor drivers are adjusted to be closer to the VGA rate of ~31kHz, by reduces the screen width. If you use MonED, you can reclaim part of the screens width, BUT you may notice that the mouse pointer, and other sprites vanish before they enter the MonED added overscan area, although the screen can use that area. Check the Amiga Hardware libary for a text file called AMYBITS.LHA. It contains some info about the Amiga's graphics. Some of the info may be wrong (I wrote it). — There are a few user modified Super72 drivers floating around, that increase the refresh rate anywhere from ~77, to ~95. You can try this set of options in the ICON of the Super72 to make it ~95Hz, with a resolution of 832×512, but you may need to adjust the Overscan also. you should have ALL the monitor drivers in your Storage/Monitors drawer. Just move 'em over into DEVS:Monitors drawer – of course YOU WILL NEED a multisync monitor to use most of 'em. Super72 at 800×600 looks very nice and narry a flicker on a Mitsubishi Diamondscan 1381A – looking at one next to me on a 1200 w/CSA 12-guage in it. Also you can get 640×480 and 640×960 and etc. etc. resolutions with various AmigaDos 3.0 monitor drivers you should have somewhere in your system. Now, the question is, does the software let you use those resolutions , e.g. does your wordprocessor/desktop publishing program, etc. let you use Super72 or similar graphics mode? Most graphic programs DO, but I'm not sure on the publishing programs.

I use the new ViewSonic 15. Super 72 requires 24 Khz sygnal and my monitor can't display that. Well I guess I am pretty much happy with 640×480. I use FinalWriter and it lets me select any monitor thats in my devs drawer. ( I can't wait until the AAA chip set comes out. Hopefully it will give better resolutions and good speed.)

The Mitsubishi 1381's I've been selling DO handle Super72 (as well as everything else I throw at them). I was AMAZED at the huge response to my ad in the April Amiga World (MegageM ad in Infomarket section in the back). I've been deluged with orders and I think we won't be able to supply them much longer. The Amiga community seems to be very hungry for monitors which really handle AGA properly without costing more than the computer!

Daniel – How would the 1381s work with the graphics cards like Picasso, Spectrum, etc.? How do they compare with the NEC 3D? I'm very interested in the $279 price, but I want to get one that I'll be able to use for a while (a graphics card is in the future somewhere …). If you think they'll work well for, say, up to 1024×768, and the dot pitch isn't too bad, I'd like to have one. If you like, you can call me at (404) 552-1867 eves/wknds, (404) 246-8678 days. Thanks! I use a 1381A with my Retina Board if that tells you anything. I haven't tried Picasso or EGS Spectrum yet. But I use the Retina for 24-bit display at 768×480 (as we speak, so to speak, Retina is outputting FractalPro image sequence being generated in the background at 768×480 resolution for later conversion to a PAR animation for my FractalPro video 'FractalPro – The Movie'). I think I've tried it at 1024×768 (one of FractalPro's 24-bit resolutions available with Retina) but I can't remember. I usually use 768×480 for video reasons. I'll check it out. I've done a bunch of ADPro work with 24-bit output to the Retina at various resolutions, but just don't specifically recall anything over 768×480. Good question so I'll try to get you an answer.
