While the AGA chips can due 140ns, 70ns, & 35ns pixels at speeds of ~15, ~24, & ~31 kHz, and can refresh from ~50 to ~110 Hz — it doesn't have the 17.5ns pixel speed needed for a 1024 VGA mode. — Limiting the screenmode's maximum height or width, allows you to increase the refresh rate but reduces resolution. There are also other graphic timing constraints, such as the sprites. The DblNTSC & DblPAL drivers reduce the refresh to ~27kHz, increasing width. If you use the VGA-Only flag, the monitor drivers are adjusted to be closer to the VGA rate of ~31kHz, by reduces the screen width. If you use MonED, you can reclaim part of the screens width, BUT you may notice that the mouse pointer, and other sprites vanish before they enter the MonED added overscan area, although the screen can use that area. Check the Amiga Hardware libary for a text file called AMYBITS.LHA. It contains some info about the Amiga's graphics. Some of the info may be wrong (I wrote it). — There are a few user modified Super72 drivers floating around, that increase the refresh rate anywhere from ~77, to ~95. You can try this set of options in the ICON of the Super72 to make it ~95Hz, with a resolution of 832×512, but you may need to adjust the Overscan also.
