What have you used????

What other packages have you used?
You seem to know alot about this stuff. The flocking stuff, and the spring
dynamics.
Are you an animator?
If so where do you work.
Have you used Prism's before, that's about the only package that I know of
that has the spring dynamics that you spoke of.
I too, would also love a utility that could do this kind of thing, hopefully
someone will write this for us.

Hi Fred,
<< What other packages have you used? >>
Everything ever written for the PC extensively, Alias & Explore mainly on the
SGI, and a number of programs on the Amiga & Mac years ago.

I guess you'd call me an animator <g> I've done it for quite a while via my own
company MEDIA MAGIC. In the last month, I've taken an extended sabbatical
(supposedly) to try to clean the cobwebs out and get involved in a few
3D-related personal projects. Just burnt out <g>.

Yes. But only for a hour/few hours at a time only for evaluation. It seems to
be a very fine and reasonably (wrt others) priced program, and great for
character animation which I'm very much into. My awareness of spring dynamics
and such stuff goes back a few years though, mainly from just my personal
research and awareness of research done at IBM/TDI a while back.

I hope so. Or at least a generic dynamics routine where this could be
"designed" by the user without resorting to a cryptic programming language. A
program that I have been beta-testing for some time – Real 3D – can accomplish
this, but only via it's programming language now. I'm not a programmer, so I
don't attempt to dabble in the language. It's not ready for release on the PC
though. Very interesting program, but you can't beat 3DS for a complete stable
package. I hope all of this new IPAS3 stuff will greatly enhance the program in
the procedural animation area as well as in more sophisticated modeling.
Nice talkin' to 'ya, but I'm off to catch a plane and late.

Yeah, I too am beta testing Real 3D, have you gotten the latest upgrade, it
really has been improved dramatically. Have you done any projects with it yet,
or any cool animations. I haven't had that much time to play with it. As for
3D studio, I agree it's real hard to beat.
