Does anyone have any clues for a work round to the following problem in R3: If importing data from AutoCAD using DXF eg. lines and polylines with a Z thikness, they will not render in plan view with force wire on. They render OK in other views though. An exception to this rule is if the AutoCAD polyline is a closed polygon. This used to work fine in R2 by the way. This may seem a strange way to want to work but here's why: One of my customers models buildings in AutoCAD and DXF's into 3DS. He then renders in wireframe to create a gif image which is used as an outline to create texture maps in Animator Pro. The resulting map is then used in 3DS. He's just upgraded to R3 and is a little dissapointed that he can't do this anymore. Any help would be appreciated. Regards Ian Kelsall

It sounds like he might not be rendering the plan view with antialiasing ON. Wireframe now requires that. Check it out. Lc – G

Your customer is making it harder than it needs to be. All he needs to do is configure AutoCAD to use the RHEXPORT plotter driver and specify GIF as the file output. He can then plot any view he wants to a gif file in AutoCAD at any resolution he wants. I do that all the time myself. It is much faster. Yann Bertaud – VPG, Autodesk.
