#fax on LineLink

Christopher,
I've finally got AutoPilot working and registered, so I can answer your 22
March note. Fortunately I saved an echo file, because I had to go to
HandsOn to read your message, and it zipped off the top of the screen
before I had a chance to read it–thought I lost it.
There seems to be a parity change or something between ID: and Password:
when logging on CIS. I wasn't able to get anything legible when I logged
on by hand with VLT, although I could see there was a "You have mail
waiting" message blended into the garbage. I haven't had any modem-type
trouble with AutoPilot or Whap! (which I just deleted) or bulletin boards
or unix mainframes. The only thing that worries me a little is that the
MR (green) light on the LineLink sometimes blinks off for a second or two
when I'm online.
I'm looking forward to hearing how you make out with GPFax. I've made
some progress with AmigaFAX, but haven't reached the stage where it
actually dials yet.
Bart,
I get online OK with AP and the LineLink. I too have noticed the green MR
light going off for several seconds (sometimes longer!) during a session.
While the light is OFF there is no activity, no keyboard responses nothing
happens. Then the light comes back on and CIS continues. Weird! Never had
that happen with other modems.
This is the init string I've been using with AP

So far I haven't gotten the FAX to work with the software I purchased with
the modem to use on my MAC.
I have gotten the AVMSuite I d'ld here for voice mail to function. Haven't
tried to let it answer a call yet. Maybe tomorrow I'll play around with
it.
As for GPFAX, Safe Harbor sent me the wrong version. I got the SUPRA
specific one instead of the generic Class II version. They've apologized
and I have an RMA to return it. They'll ship the correct version as soon
as it arrives. Yeah, it is backordered now from their distributor.
As for the CDROM unit. I got ASIMCDFS and it works just fine. I also am
using the CDROM filesystem I dl'd here and it works too! I'm trying them
out together and I have the Fred Fish CD loaded twice on the Workbench!
That is weird too! 🙂
Haven't been able to get ASIMTUNES to see the music CD. It won't play any
of them. However, the MAC music player program works fine.
PhotoCD player on the Amiga works ok and the 24bit IFF files load OK into
ImageFX.
Now if someone knows what I need to do to get ASIMTUNES to recognize music
CDs inserted in the player on the Amiga I'd be a happy camper.
The CDROM I'm using is the Apple PowerCD, which is a Phillips unit
according to SCSIinquire provided with AsimCDFS.
