Yost's online doc survey

1) 8 – The explanations of how features DO work are very complete and clear.
But I would like to see more examples of how the features MIGHT be used, or
what they were INTENDED for. E.g., in the ref. manual the 3D Editor
Create/Face/Extrude feature is explained with a minimal example that surely
shows what it does, but gives no hint about what it might be used or useful
for–its left to inference.
Also, once I become familiar with a manual's layout I like to thumb
through it to find feature/key explanations. The Ref. Manual is
organized well for that, but lacks detailed enough page headers to do
it easily. E.g., the header for pages 7-15 through 7-240 says "3D
Editor Commands" on both left and right-hand pages. It would be more
helpful to me if, as in the telephone directory, the names of the
individual editor commands appeared on one of the page corners.
I would have appreciated an overall explanation of the hierarchy of
model building blocks: vertex, edge, face, element, object. AND,
explanation of how to make the best use of these. E.g., do I "bend"
at the vertex, face or object level, and WHY? What are the
trade-offs? How might I best group entities to create a complex
mesh/project?
2) I would like to see the Alt-click Help extended to all features.
And, as others have suggested, include Reference Manual page numbers,
too.
3) On-line: a searchable index to the ref and tutorial manuals.
4) Not on-line: detailed explanations.
