Flyer samples

Gary (and interested others considering the Flyer),
Thx, I Rx sample tape back from you and the output of the Flyer (& those few
effects) looks just fine. I have to do one more check before I say my final
reaction (comparing 3rd and 4th generation tape quality of the same samples),
but I'd say offhand that the Flyer does as promised and maintains the quality
of the video input to it when the Flyer quality mode equals or exceeds the
source quality.
??? Was it your TBC or the Flyer or VTR or something else that left the
processed video with a blue tint ???
??? You went in from what model VTR ???
??? You had to go in composite from your VTR I assume ???
??? Has anyone tried the Y/C connector on the Flyer to actually see if it can
be used for input ???
[A note to other interested parties–going to tape with the Flyer output still
presents you with one level of generation loss, as if you had made a simple dub
of the original camera master. Any NLE would do the same.]
So far I've noticed no artifacts.
I uploaded to this section library three composite images made from the
samples. FLYS1.IFF is a landscape. FLYS2.IFF is a face. FLYS3.IFF is a
balloon. The file abstract explains the composite. If anyone has any
questions about the composites, or would like to see something different, just
let me know.
These IFF files are rather large. I'll try to compress them (ZIP) and upload
again in a couple of days if zipping saves enough space to warrant.
Much thanks Gary. This is what I needed to see to convince me to accept my
preorder once I hear a few more bugs are worked out.
