hello all! I thought some of you might be interested that I'm now working at Metrolight Studios as the "3d Studio Production Manager". Some of you may be familiar with Metrolight, but if not I'll fill you in. They are a Special Effects and Animation production company based in Hollyweird, Ca, USA. They've won all kind of awards (Oscar and Monitor awards) for their work and until now have only concentrated on high-end film and broadcast TV work using SGI hardware and Wavefront, Alias, Renderman etc. Examples of their work can be found on the "Mind's Eye" series of video and include "Total Recall", "Starquest", "Moe's World", and much more. They've decided to start a new division focusing on interactive entertainment, and low/mid end film and TV work. The division is going to be PC-based using 3d Studio (naturally) and I was fortunate enough to be picked to get the new division's hardware and software off the ground. What does this mean to you? Well, I'm putting together a resource list of freelancers, contractors, and interns who would be interested in working in-house or, in special cases, off-site on top-notch projects. I intend to maintain the high-quality visuals that Metrolight has become for famous for – only on the PC platform. Interested animators, modellers, producers, art directors (in the USA or International) should contact me via e-mail or send demo reels to: Metrolight Studios, 5724 West Third, Suite 400 Los Angeles, CA 90036-3043 USA

They couldn't have picked a more mutant kinda guy… Congratulations! If there's anything I can help you with, please let me know. Metrolight is one of the 6 largest 3D CGI production houses in the world, and it's a kick to be part of their new division. – G

Gary, thanks to everybody who responded with good wishes (Ted, Evan, Gary, PaulS) and those e-mails for contract help too (keep 'em coming). >> Metrolight is one of the 6 largest 3D CGI production houses in the world, and it's a kick to be part of their new division << Yes, their work has been stellar, mainly due to phenomenal art direction. I face the biggest challenge of my 3d career so far to make this division viable and maintain their reputation for top quality 3d. I hope I'm up to it 🙂 Martin
