Help! I accidentally plugged the other end of a cable which was in my serial
port into my parallel port while my A3000 was running. The screen went blank
and now I can't get my computer to work at all. It won't even try to boot from
floppy or hard drive. Any suggestions? I live on an island 2000 miles from
anywhere, so there is no local Amiga dealer I could go running to.
Thanks

NEVER,NEVER,NEVER,NEVER,NEVER,NEVER plug or unplug somthing into any computer
while it is powered up. Because you WILL destroy something.
As to how to go about fixing it, you will most likely have to send it in to a
repair shop. Start by looking at your chips if you have a way to test any of
them.
Maybe someone here will have better info for you. But i just had to say
something…Hope you forgive me…<SlyG>;^)

Stephen,
Thanks, point well taken. Do you have any recommendations for a repair
shop?

So, Your on an island? About the only thing available to you will most likley
be a mail order outfit. I don't have any old magazines lying around, so i can't
help you out there. You might try Creative Computers in California. They may be
able to tell you about somone here in the states. Their number is 800-872-8882
or if you can't dial that one try 310-787-4520. Hours are from 8am to 6pm mon.
thru fri. and 8am to 5pm on sat.
I wish you the best of luck. And please forgive me, i shouldn't have been so
hard on you, because i learned the hard way myself a few years back.
