#Configure Multimedia PC

I would like help configuring a workstation to be used for creating Multimedia
training, presentation and marketing applications. Our budget is about
$6000.00
We are currently looking at 100Mgz, 32MG, 1 GIG, 4X CD-ROM, 16 Bit Sound, Video
Capture, 4 MG, video Accelerator. We currently using PowerPoint, DTP, scanned
images, so are not complete novices. We would like to stay with SW and HX
that is as compatable as possible even if this means that we are not on the
leading edge. We are also willing to pay a bit more now to save problems
later.
I am looking at Seagate Fast/Wide SCSI with Adaptec 2940 controller and 4X NEC
CDR501K CD-ROM. I am concerned that the SCSI may be a bad investment with the
new fast IDE technology that is avialable for harddrive preformance. The NEC
SCSI is pricy and my supplier says the speed is 600KB/195ms whcih is avialable
with IDE type CD-ROM. Comments??
Also I need a recommendation on Video Capture. I am currently pricing
VideoBlaster RT300.

Hi, Sounds like a noble venture, multimedia publication etal., however all I
see in your message is a clone and a fleeting glimpse of a capture device. The
clone will cost you $3k or so, the important thing is that you aquire an input
device that will give you the highest possible quality and remain within your
budget. Output is going to be to a data-file, right? Hence, multi-media.
For capture you might consider the DPS PAR/TBC-IV combo, quite effective for
the price.
