I am in a big hurt. I need to do an animation of a basketball passing through a hoop. I have the basketball, the problem is the netting. Any ideas? Thanks all, Paul Kakert Fresh Look Design

Create the model of the net with the appropriate number of faces and use a wireframe material.

Create an image to use as an Opacity Map?! I used TIPS one time to fill the screen with a Chail Link Fence pattern and it worked great! I did a short FLC that showed a ball flying into the fence, stretching the fence and partially breaking through. Have fun!

I created a bball net for a basketball arean anim one time by creating the basic net as a cylinder like object and drew an approximate net (rolled out like it was flat) in animator and wrapping that around the net with cylindrical mapping and opacity to see throught the holes. Works well, but you'll need your map to be very high res if you plan on getting very close. If you get in a pinch, I could dig around and see if I could find it and upload it here. Good luck! Thanks all, Sounds like an opacity map it is. Mark – if I get in a pinch I may ask your help. I'll give it a go first. Thanks, Paul

Paul, Post a message to Scott Roberts. He did a really nice BasketBall and net for a Milwaukee Bucks commercial and I'm sure <BG> he'd give you a few good ideas. David. -David Swoboda
