#Parnet and Multiface

Anyone know how to get parnet to work with a Multiface 2 card. I downloaded
ParBENCH and was real hopefull the install program would ask me what port to
use. It does not though. The xxx.device references in parnet setup seem to be
to parnet.device, which I assume uses the standard parallel port.

I don't know about the MFC II card but my MFC III came with a parnet
device called pitnet.device, and instructions for setting up parnet for the
second parallel port. Works great. This software should be available from the
makers of the MFC but if you can't get it, I can e-mail you the instructions
and the pitnet.device. Let me know.

Thanks for the info. The docs I have for the Multiface are in German and
French. I had a rather crude translation on 8 1/2 by 11 sheets, but I can't
find it.
Well, I just checked my Multiface disk and there is no pitnet.device on it. I
wonder if the MFC III device will work. Anyone know how to get in touch with
the manufactor by phone or email?

I have the MultiFace III card, and the disk and manual that came with it had
plenty of documentation as well as executables to cover anything you got. If
you know someone with MFC3 card just look at their docs and disk. You'll find
that bsc of Germany gave out 3 forms of ParNet, namely ParNet, PitNet, and
PiaNet for the standard PAR:, the MFC2 PITx:, and the MFC3 PITx: respectively.
I can't imagine bsc copyrighting something that started in the public domain so
if you can't find, obtaining a copy should be no problem. Also the docs I got
say that actually more than two Amigas can be linked via ParNet, just a little
trickier, and even gives an example of setting up 1 server and 2 clients. Also
there is ProNet.LHA, under Networking Lib 4, that may be useful. It's supposed
to be a ParNet replacement. I haven't looked at it yet.
