Has anyone tried/used "PC Task"? I'm looking at Amiga Warehouse's ad for it. The ad states it is the only software run 80286 emulator, and can run Windows and other MS-DOS software. What I have in mind is to install this program, and then use one of the many MS-DOS programs available to "surf" the Net with such as "Internet in a box". I have a basic A500, w/ GVP HD, and if I go beyond reading my e-mail to the Usenet newsgroups my phone bill looks more like a Visa bill. I'm currently using Termite, which is a nice term program, but, with the Net everything has to be done online which translates into $$$$. —Speeding along at 14400 via AutoPilot Lou Yurcsak

I haven't heard from anyone yet who's tried PC Task 3, though many liked the XT version. But I'd be wary about running Windows on ANY 286. It might be fine for DOS-based programs, though. Marion Deland CROSSINGS – Newsletter for Amiga/PC/Mac compatibility

I have seen PC-Task 3.0 and yes, it does run Windows, but mightily slow… too slow to be useable. -Jonathan MAC Quadra/486PC compatible courtesy Amiga, Emplant and BB. Emplant beta tester. Running AP v1.77. E-mail: JonathanB@delrina.com

I just read a PC Task 3.0 review in the April issue of Amiga Spezial (one of the 3 surviving "serious" Amiga mags in Germany). The bottomline is: it's ok for DOS work (if it DOES work), it's ab-so-lu-te-ly unusable for Windoze (snore!). It took them over 17 (seventeen!) hours to get it to allow Windows to be installed which took them another one and a half hours. Windows does actually start, even Windword did (given time) and even loaded a readme file only to crash when trying to printout. Final verdict: fine to impress people with the DOS capabilities but too expensive for that… // Christian "ELP" Busse \X/ near Frankfurt, Germany
