I just downloaded xanim6 to try it out. I noticed that the amiga.readme file mentions a "libx11" upon which this ported version of xanim for the Amiga is apparently based. Is this a separate lib file that we need to run this program? No such file is included in the Archive?? Hank

Hank, I DL'd and ran an earlier version of it just by making the environment varialble mentioned in the readme. I was trying to get something to convert/play quicktimes. Unfortunately it seems the program wants a resource and data fork on the same access, but the Amiga FS's that deal with Mac stuff usually hand up one or the other, but not both at a time. I think if I recall I did get it to play a Ham anim. wmc – via Autopilot!

Wayne and Hank, I've just got this XAnim on a mag coverdisk here in the UK and although I haven't had a go with it, or read the docs yet the article that describes it states that "this" version has a few formats disabled and to use the program fully you'll need Terje Pedersen's libXII. Is this any help with your DL'ed XAnim problem? Charles Collinson Thirsk – North Yorkshire – UK

Charles, I just fooled with it and it seemd to work on stuff that was in native AMiga format. Stuff in a Mac format it had difficulty with because of the inability of the amiga/mac FS solutions to hand up the resource and data forks simultaneously. I don't think x11 has anything to do with that… wmc – via Autopilot!

Wayne; Did you try fli or flic type anims as well? The docs I got did mention lib xii. Hank

No, Hank, I didn't. I have ADPro FLC2Anim so for viewing them its not a problem, but I have no quicktime viewers available to me. That was the main draw for me to XAnim. Sorry I can't help you on the flics wmc – via Autopilot!

Where is AdPro's FLC2Anim available. I didn't know it existed? Hank

Hank, Its in their library section (ERI) in an archive with other "command2" scripts. wmc – via Autopilot!

Wayne, Well I've just glanced the docs now and see it is "temp disabled" in two formats; DL animations and PFX. What the X11 is I don't know but it was just mentioned in the magazines description of it. Sorry I can't help further. Charles Collinson Thirsk – North Yorkshire – UK

Charles: RE: xanim: Thanks for your input. The read me file with the download demo also suggests something similar, the need for libxii. Hank

Hank, Not sure what the XII lib is but I tried XAnim on a FLC extension anim and all it did was ask for a .resource/ "something" and failed due to some FLC fault, forget which, some kind of calculation fault I'm sure. Back to the drawing board I think :). Charles Collinson Thirsk – North Yorkshire – UK

Charles; Maybe the author can help us with the program. I'm going to try to contact him. Hank
