#Batch image processing

Another question from a third party:
"I need to clip identical segments of a series of 24-bit images on the PC in
exact registration to each other, and save these clips out as new files. Is
there a shareware program that can do this or can the new version of Photoshop
do this with its "filmstrip" option?"
Thanks again!
Check out "Imagine Tool Factory Cut Frame" from Schreiber Instruments,
Inc.(800.252.1024). This is one of a series of tools in the Tool Factory that
work with TGA files. This one will "Cut out a rectangular section of an image
or series."
You will have to convert your images to TGA if they aren't there already, but
it sounds like this product will do what you need.

Actually, the images I am hoping to cut out of the series of targas is an
organic shape, not a rectangular one.. actually, Imagine was my first
suggestion, but I hit a brick wall when the shape turned out to be the profile
of an armadillo that needs to be trimmed out of 7500 sequential targas.. urk..
Thanks for the quick reply, though.. my friend has decided to get a CServe
account because of the swiftness of returned replies in this forum. Thanks.
Dov.
Actually, (re: trimming a series of Targas) that was exactly the solution we
needed. Thanks again very much for your (multiple!) helpful replies!

I think you should look at "Daves Targa Animator" around in the forums, it's
got alot of batch functions. I'm not sure if I understand what you need, but
it's great to have around! Lots of cool stuff. It'll even let you add Alpha
channels to .tga files, or use .gifs and composite images using that
(animated)alpha channel.. very organic looking stuff possible. Lots more
features too. I'm pretty sure it's in this forum, and in GRAPHDEV.
Otay, thanks for the tip!
As it happens, Daves doesn't clip, which is what I need it to do. Thanks, tho.
Dov.
Dov,
I think DTA still may do what you want..
recalling an earlier comment from you:
>Imagine was my first suggestion, but I hit a brick wall when the shape turned

sequential targas.. <
Well, ok, here goes. Using the latest version of DTA, procede as follows:
Save your armadillo outline as a black and white shape, with the portion you
want to clip out in white. (gif or tga)
Add this file to the alpha channel of every file you want to clip. (I think
they need to be tga's.)
Composite that together with a same resolution file that's a solid black.
(have lots of free disk space!)
Render it all out, and presto! you have 7500 files that are visually shaped
like an armadillo, and have a black background to them.
You may even be able to skip adding the file to the alpha channel, and just use
that file for the cookie cutter for the entire image. Read the doc's
carefully, they're kinda hard to follow sometimes. If you can't figure it out,
let me know and I'll figure out the parameters for you.
This could be done in 3DS' Video Post as well, if you have it.
If this isn't what you're trying to do, let me know. I'm curious on what you
want to end up with, and how it will be used.
