#QuickTime as texture map
10 messages in this thread
Greetings,
Is anyone aware of an IPAS that allows the use of a QuickTime file as an
animated texture map?
Thanks,

no, but I think there's a conversion program here in the forum that will make a
flic from a quick time movie-then you cann apply the flic as a texture map

Kyle,
Thanks, I'll look for it.

Scott,
oops . . .I just put my foot in my mouth 🙂
what I was thinking of was an .ixp process that will save out a quicktime movie
of your video post rendering, but evidently it's a one-way faucet.
you might check around in the other forums in the graphics area, or maybe
there's someone out there who knows of a converter?

Kyle,
Thanks. For now I'm using Debabilizer (on the Mac) to convert the QuickTime
movies into Flics to use as animated texture maps…
-Scott
glad you found a solution

Your best bet would be to look for a util that will convert the QT to
a series of TGA or TIF files. Off hand I can't recall any (other
than AAdobe Premiere) but I'm sure I've seen some somewhere. Try
GRAPHSUPPORT or some of the multimedia forums.

Debabilizer (for the Mac) will do just this. It's an extremely useful tool if
you have a mac on your network.

Yes, I had forgotten about that aspect of DeBabelizer. It is a great program
(if you can figure out how to get it to do what you want). We use it to
generate bitmap catalogs as well as to translate files.

The interface is fairly Byzantine… Also, I've found that I can't batch more
than about 100 files at a time, which is somewhat tedious, but I don't even
want to contemplate the alternative, if there even is one.
