Have installed 128 MB Ram in my Asus motherboard – everything works fine under Dos/win -yes I have all the ram available with himem.sys /eisa and the new 1.06 driver works fine now with my Matrox impression+. Problem is I have to rerun the eisa configuration for every time I want to use 3D studio because Pharlap won't start if I have activated more than 64 MB. Is this a fixed limitation or is there something to be done? TIA Stefan Steib / MediaNet

Hi Stefan, << Problem is I have to rerun the eisa configuration for every time I want to use 3D studio because Pharlap won't start if I have activated more than 64 MB. >> What's the exact error message? I'm not familiar with this one. On a related subject, here's a previous post regarding getting 3DS to *see* all of your memory that may be relevant… << where's my memory.. >> Here's a repost from Jamie Clay..(slightly dated but still valid) "If you ever have someone call in who has a system with more memory than AutoCAD or 3DS show available, here is one possible solution. (First, does all the memory count up during initial boot?, if so read on) o Get QEMM 7.04 (actually you can't yet purchase this, the patch is on CIS in the QEMM forum) o Then you use the(undocumented) SCANMEM command to display the amount of memory the machine has. SCANMEM returns a memory range called USEMEM. o That range then needs to be plugged into the QEMM386.SYS's USERAM option in the CONFIG.SYS. Example: DEVICE=C:\QEMM\QEMM386.SYS RAM USERAM=XXXXX-XXXXX From there it works like a champ. Note – you needed to add the RAM option to get Windows to work with it." ————————- Following the above, Tyler writes.. I had trouble with Jamie Clay's instructions until I got on the QEMM forum and learned that I had to boot my computer "clean" before I ran SCANMEM. This means when "Starting MS-DOS…" is displayed, press F5 to bypass your config.sys and autoexec.bat. _Then_ run SCANMEM and add the appropriate "USERAM=XXXXXX-XXXXXXXXX" to your QEMM line in config.sys. -Tyler Colwell Sierra Analysis Group ———————– jonas[adesk]

Stefan, Which Asus board do you use. I recently tried the same and never got more than 64 Mb available (memory count saw them, but himem /eisa didn't ).

Fremer The thing is I have all the ram available with Dos/windows and the Himem /eisa switch. For example I have 113 MB available in Photoshop. The Board is the Asus Double Pentium PCI/Eisa PCI/E-P54NP4 with the very lates Bios 3.051(february95!) and it simply looks like Pharlap is unable to see the amount over 64 MB.The system message is: there is a mismatch between the reported memory and DOS Pharlap is unable to initialize. Dos 's mem doesn't report more than 64 MB but when I add 64 MB EMS everything shows up. Windows extended meory recognizes it without probs. Any idea's? I'm on the way to get Pharlap 5.0 and patch it into 3DS instead of the 4.1 version that's used by Autodesk now. I hope this works………. Stefan Steib / MediaNet

Stefan, I just managed to get my 96 mb available to Pshop/Himem. I have the same Asus board, used Himem/eisa, but didn't know I had to enable the Eisa memory with Eisa cfg. !! Did you have to do this or does your very new Bios solve this automatically ? BTW. I'll try avail mem in 3DS when I'm back at work.
