I go back and forth between these platforms from time to time though I'm not really an expert on this subject so FWIW: Theres a bunch of programs doing conversions, though not all can write to syquests (or format them so check into that) I use transfer pro on a pc which will format as well as write to syqests if you are using and apaptec card to control your syquest. Often a special conversion program isn't neccesary. If your clients are using power pc's and they have the right drivers loaded (they come with the power pc but some people disable them or something – don't know to much about this part of it though i could find out if you need) they can read not only a pc formated floppy but a pc formated syquest as well. This is a big improvment over the old mac apple file exchange and means that you can put a put a regular pc tif file on a pc formatted syquest and the mac will be able to read it. Some pc software like photoshop will be let you open a tif and save it again with the mac byte order even though your writing to a pc disk . If you don't have photoshop theres a good chance the people on the mac side will have it and it can open a tif file with a pc byte order as the mac can read the disk (like if its a power pc). The real trick is knowing that the mac normally appends a little file to every picture file it saves which helps the system know what kind of file it is. Mac people don't usually use file extensions and so these little appended files help allow the system to do things like find the application that created a file or sort out all the picture file in a directory. When you first try to open the tiff on the mac in , say photoshop, no matter if it has a mac or pc byte order or is on a pc or mac disk, the program may not recognize it as easily as if you were trying to open a file that had been saved once on a mac, because it won't have this little appended file. The solution is to go into photoshop on the mac and next to the "open" command on the file pulldown menu is an "open as" command that will let you tell it it is a tiff file that you are trying to open. Opening the file with this command should work and once it is saved once on the mac this won't be a problem again. Good luck. Jon Burleson
