#Flc conversion to mac
10 messages in this thread
I was wondering if there were a utility to play flc and fli files on the mac or
power mac. Thanks,
Doug.
Doug,
Ijust DL'ed a demo IPAS that generates QuickTime .movs directly from a video
post render (Library #1 search for keyword "Quicktime"). It seems to work fine
under 3DS but I still have to have a Mac friend check out
the playback.
Off hand, I don't know of any util that converts already rendered .fl?s to
.movs (QT). Does anyone here have a suggestion.
Paul
Paul,
Thanks. I'm not sure I understand – do I need 3d studio to run the IPAS? I
have Animation Master, a spline based modeler. It generates targa files, as
well as flc's and fli's. Could you let me know? Thanks.
Doug.
Doug,
Sorry, I thought you were a 3DS user.
<<< …do I need 3d studio to run the IPAS? >>>
Yes, I believe so. I've haven't heard of another package that supports
IPAS type plug-ins. This was the first util I've seen that writes QT files,
although I just started looking this week. I also haven't been
successful in running one on the MAC. I spoke to the developer about it and he
give me a tip to try. I haven't had the chance to try it out yet.

G'ahead rub it in… <G> (Many 3DS users are still eagerly awaiting
an integrated spline based modeler)
Paul
Thanks for the note. Actually, Anim. Master can import 3d files and, I believe
export to it. It's the best modeler I've seen. If you want a spline based
one, give it a try. Well worth the 700 bucks. Someone told me about a great
utility that, according to my mac guy, who has tried it, says it works
splendidly. It plays fli anc flc files right on the mack. It's in this
multimedia library.\
Yours,
Doug.
Paul, If you already have a .flc just use it as an entry in VP and then enter a
second like containing the QT IPAS. Should work just fine.

Thanks, I kinda overlooked that.
Have you used this QT IPAS? If so, were you able to play the .mov
on a MAC?
Paul
No Paul, I haven't actually used it yet. But I did just order it a couple of
days ago. I'll let you know how it goes if you'd like.

I picked up this FLI/FLC Macintosh Player from one of the many BBSs I
frequent. It
is produced by a company called Midnight Oil Productions by Daniel Azuma I
think.
If anyone has more information please leave me mail. I would like to get the
updates but there is no information in the file on how to contact the author.
