#GIFs

I hope this is the right place to put this, I haven't had much luck with
messages lately. My question is about the format of graphics in most sections.
I have downloaded some graphics that end in .GIF, but I cant seem to do much
with them. I can view them on line. I tried importing them into ProPage 4.1 and
I get a requester asking me what format. I click Gif97A (or some number) and it
says Not A Gif File. I also have VirtGif and GifMachine that sometimes will
display a picture and sometimes wont. Sometimes these programs also say not a
GIF file. Maybe I should look for another convertion program?
Thanks for any help

George,
I don't know if you have an ECS or AGA machine. However FASTGIF is a very good
and fast gif viewer. On ECS machines it will view them in hi-res greyscale
which is often the best way to do it on older Amigas. FASTVIEW will give a nice
color HAM conversion. They're both pretty easy on memory usage too. A
combination of these should work pretty well for you.

Gregory;
I have an old 500 which I guess is ECS. I will have a look for FASTGIF and
FASTVIEW, I assume they are on CIS somewhere. Is there different types of GIF,
I wonder why some can be imported into PP4.1 and others cant.
Thanks for your help,
George
There are 87A and 89A GIFs but I'm not sure why PP4.1 won't load some. Let me
know if those programs can't be found. They're probably in AmigaArts forum. If
not I'll upload them.
