I remember a while back when the Retina ZIII first came out there was some problems with it and Workbench 3.1 , I was wondering if they ever fixed those problems with new software updates… Also is there anyone out there who is running the ZIII with the emplant, if so let me know what you think about how they work together.. What the hey, what do you think about the quality of the retina ZIII?

Yes, the new release of the software fixed the 3.1 incompatibilities. I think the quality is excellent. It just takes some work to get it just the way you want it. DJ Flying high on Autopilot and French Dark Roast, From Queens, where the ice cream truck plays Helter Skelter …

Is the new release packaged with the unit or is it up here on Cis?

At one point the system part of the release only was here. However, you can order it, either for free or for I think $25, depending on what version you have and from whom you bought it, from NoahJi's, and you'll get several programs, like xiPaint, as well. It supports OS3.1 well enough – I can vouch for that, since I have 3.1. 😉 Mr. Zombie

Well I plan on buying the Retina ZIII new so hopefully it comes with the newest software… BTW what revision software is the most current or the one that is most xompatable with 3.1?

Version 2.3. If you order it now, that's what you'll get. However, if you can wait until June for a display card, do, because supposedly the CyberVision will be out by then, which will use the same software that the PicassoII does – which is EXCELLENT, unlike the krap that comes with the Retina – and which will also use a 64bit controller, thus perhaps being faster than the Retina. Otoh, don't get a PicassoII if you want speed, because the RetinaZ3 is FAR faster. With my WarpEngine 3040, I've got about 280,000 pixels per second according to IntuiSpeed at 800×600, 256 colors.
