#Postscript help !

I would like to know how to print a document in postscript. I am using Final
Writer with an HP Deskjet 500c printer. If I send the document to a postscript
file do I have to bring it to someone with an Amiga computer and a postscript
printer or I could bring it to any place with a postscript printer. Thank you

If you can get a computer that drives a postscript printer to read the file as
the ascii that a postscript file contains, that computer and printer can print
it. (I hope that's clear!)

I used to do this with FC and then FW all the time before buying a Postscript
printer.
To print to Postscript file in Final Writer you can choose that option off the
FW print menu — it's worded just about that way. It'll bring up a file
requester asking where you want to save the printout file and to what name.Then
you can take the diskette with the Postscript printout file on it and run it
through any other Amiga connected to a Postscript printer. If you need to go to
a PC or Mac, no problem as long as you have a cross-disk utility — for
exampke, CrossDOS for MS-DOS (standalone version or built in to Workbench 2.1
on up) and CrossMAC for Mac format disks. If you took the file on a MS-DOS disk
to a service bureau they'd know just what to do. Take it to a friend's computer
and you merely need go to the DOS command line and copy the file to the
printer, e.g., A:>COPY [FILENAME.PS] PRN [on an Amiga, it would go, DF0:COPY
[FILENAME.PS] TO PAR:
You could get a software postscript interpreter for your macine that would
allow you to print postscript files on your Deskjet. Look for Post in libs
here. Why mess with postscript anyway? FinalWriter's output is quite good!

If you "Print" your document to a Postscript file, all you need to do is
find somebody with a Postscript printer. If that person owns a PC, save
the document on a PC-format disk (via CrossDOS or like). Use the "Copy to
PRT" command at the PC. Should work.
