Well I don't have HDtoolbox (some kind person from england mailed me his old
2.04 roms and his workbench discs, extras and fonts, but no hd toolbox) And my
Roctec formatter won't function under the new rom. is there anyway to do it
from the shell? I tried a workaround to get autopilot to work by booting from
floppy and still get the same trouble, AP will retrieve the stuff just fine but
when i try to compose a message or a reply i get a 'can't open message body'
requester. But if i boot from floopy aren't i getting the new file system from
the floppy disc? and if that's so then autopilots troubles lie elswhere. I've
gotten other 2.04 only software to work on this system. just these partial
operating troubles with AP, and they suggested the rigid disc trouble as i did
have the 1.3 on here when i originally formatted this harddrive. thanks for
your quick reply on my last question.m

obviously you UK friend has forgotten to mail you the `INSTALL' disk of
the WB 2.04 disk set.
HDToolBox and some other goodies can only be found on this disk.

Have him send you the 'install' disk. While it is theoritically possible to
install AmigaDOS with something like HDPrep (or whatever the name of the freely
distributable formatter is) it is not a suitable task for a first time Amiga
User.
