Our aMEGA Box was ready to go to market on Dec. 1st, but in Nov. Commodore completely changed the Zorro (Zorro is Amiga's acronym for the expansion box standardized architecture) specifications. I'm talking major, major changes here! We will not sell you a product that will be obsolete before you buy it. We plan to introduce an expansion box, but we must re-design what we've got! Our company philosophy (ie. my personal feelings since I own most of the company) is that we will not announce projected product release dates to the public until we know that we can come reasonably close to meeting them. Instead we prefer to say that we are working on that project and we expect that we will be in a position to make a product announcement in February. This is our way of saying we're not sure yet! We do not accept orders for new products until we formally announce a ship date that we know we can come reasonably close to. Our history of not BSing you, the consumer, has built confidence in our new product announcements as being realistic. For example, in Jan '86 we said that we were working on a 1 MEG Board and we would be announcing the product in the spring. We announced the aMEGA Board on April 15th and said it would ship in June. We shipped the first 100 aMEGAs on June 27th & 28th. We said in July that we were working on a 20 MEG Hard Drive and would announce it in the fall. On Oct. 15th we announced a ship date of Nov. 19th. We shipped the first 50 Hard Drives The week of Nov. 26th. We were a bit over a week late.
