*** AmigaForum Sysop rings in the New Year… Again and Again and Again…
Richmond, VA — In a marathon CO session which began late last year,
AmigaForum Sysop Richard Rae rang in the New Year for the entire United
States.
Richard entered the conference area at about 11:45 PM ET and, using the
handle "Lonely Hearts Club", waited around for unloved network users. Said
Richard, "People didn't really start showing up until around 1:30 AM, which
I guess goes to prove that most of the lonely people are west of the
Mississippi".
At 3:00 AM ET, Richard triumphantly announced his victory and intention to
log off, at which point one of the forum members innocently asked, "What
about Alaska and Hawaii?" A heated argument about which time zone Hawaii
was in was finally settled when another of our helpful forum members called
Hawaiian Directory Assistance and asked what year it was. ("She was very
nice about the whole thing", the forum member insists).
Richard then proceeded to gab for another two hours until 5:00 AM ET, at
which point 1987 became a reality for all of the United States. Shortly
before leaving, Richard relates, one of the forum members innocently asked,
"What about Guam and Midway???".

*** Unexplained Lockout of Forum Member Investigated
"It was the strangest thing, I was on last night for New Years, and was
talking to one of the Sysops about Guam… next thing I knew, CompuServe
said 'User ID:", and I couldn't get back in!" SigPolice are currently
investigating, but have no explaination for the incident at this time.
